Background[]

The G-Man is an enigmatic figure who specialises in stalking people in order to see if they are suitable to be employed under him. One of his employees was Gordon Freeman, who G-Man forcefully hired after the Black Mesa Incident (as depicted in the original Half-Life).

Biography[]

Season 1[]

The G-Man comes under the notice of a rebel known as Bernard, who is keen to fulfil a goal of capturing the G-Man. After several unsuccessful attempts to capture G-Man, Bernard enlists the help of Bulma to help him out. Bernard eventually tracks G-Man down to Nova Prospekt, although during a confrontation G-Man knocks Bernard out by slamming a door in his face.

Season 2[]

In a flashback, G-Man loses Freeman from his employ after Freeman hangs G-Man from a crane. G-Man forces Bernard and his friends to go on a mission to capture Freeman, and holds their friend Steve Zimmerman hostage to make sure they comply. Bernard seemingly completes the mission by capturing what he believes to be Freeman in the City 17 plaza, although G-Man regrettably informs Bernard he has captured the wrong man. Although the real Freeman turns up, he knocks Bernard out before he can complete his task.

Season 3[]

G-Man returns to his compound in the middle of a desert, and tells Steve that he will remain a hostage until Bernard completes his mission. Despite this, Bernard decides to go rogue and plans to rescue Steve from the G-Man. By the time Bernard arrives at G-Man's compound, Steve has taken out most of G-Man's henchmen in a bid to escape. The G-Man is taken captive by Bernard's former ally Nick, who has gone rogue after Bernard left him to die in the previous season during the Catching the Freeman arc. Nick takes G-Man away into a portal, and Bernard, Steve and Bulma follow them.

Season 4[]

Nick is incapacitated by Bernard, although G-Man escaped prior to this incident. G-Man leaves Bernard a letter claiming he originally wanted Bernard to be Freeman's successor, although has now changed his mind due to growing tired of their constant confrontations. G-Man kidnaps Bulma are returns to City 17, where he wipes out a majority of the population. Bernard and Steve arrive back in the city, to find G-Man has Bulma under his hypnotic spell. G-Man voices his intention to make Bulma his new employee, much to Bernard's anger. G-Man brings Bulma to the abandoned citadel, and tasks Bernard and Steve with going on another long adventure in order to rescue her. Bernard and Steve eventually arrive at the citadel to save Bulma. When they face off with G-Man, G-Man freezes time and captures Bernard and places him into stasis. Bernard later awakens at the beginning of the series, in which he crashes on an island on gm_construct during his first failed attempt to capture G-Man, implying the events of the series were just a dream.

Season 5[]

Despite Steve putting Bernard's experiences down to a dream, Bernard is determined that the events actually happened and G-Man sent him back in time. Bernard crafts a teleporter and travels into the past prior to the events of Half-Life 2 in order to find G-Man and get him to sign a document proving he used time travel on Bernard. Bernard returns to City 17, and sets off on a journey to track down G-Man. During this G-Man takes notice of Bernard and decides to keep a watchful eye on him, implying these events have retroactively given a motivation to G-Man's interest in Bernard.

On a rooftop of the City 17 apartments, Bernard confronts G-Man and convinces him to sign the document. Despite carrying out his mission, Bernard accidentally loses the document which is then destroyed by explosive barrels. Bernard goes on a stabbing spree in the city, and is arrested by the civil protection and locked up. He is rescued by Bulma, who is disguised as one of the police officers. She confirms that Bernard was indeed sent back by G-Man, and states that he will need to be returned to his own time as G-Man is onto him. She brings Bernard to Isaac Kleiner's lab to use his teleporter, although the pair of them discover G-Man has killed Kleiner. Bernard kicks and incapacitates G-Man. G-Man reveals that Bulma had escaped her stasis in the future and forced G-Man to send her back to retrieve Bernard. G-Man reveals he can get the teleporter to work and is willing to send Bernard back to his own time as he is fed up with dealing with him. Bernard agrees to this plan, and tells Bulma to try and get the teleporter working as he goes to retrieve Steve. But something convinces Bernard that something is wrong, and he is forced to flee the lab in a hurry in order to meet Steve at the train station.

Christmas Spectacular[]

In this standalone Christmas Special released following the last episode, G-Man is present at a Christmas party which is attended by Bernard and Bulma. Bernard plans to kill G-Man by spiking his egg nog and offers it up to him. But G-Man reveals that he isn't a fan of egg nog, and instead gives it to another partygoer. The partygoer is blown to bits, much to G-Man's shock.
